Why not have fun?

I say why not. You can have fun and make money. Even more important you can have fun on the journey of life and enjoy it. You can have fun in so many ways. One is to have a friend that you can laugh with cry with and make others happy all in the same time. I have a friend like that Micki, Micki and have been married what in today’s standard a is long time.

Just so you know we met in college she was a freshman and I was a senior. At you first meeting I didn’t really turn her on, but has things happen along the way we started dating. What we found out that we had a lot of fun being around one another. We both like to party and be with friends that like to laugh and joke around. So things went will. So will we get married. I must say things keep rolling along.

Micki is a real laugher and loves to be around people who ilaugher to. So one of my steps I happiness is laughing is built right into my life Micki.

Being around those that loves you and you love them. Or if that is too strong for you how about being around those that you care for and those that care about you. Will Micki fit the bell again. See not only makes sure that see does the big and little things for myself and our family, but see make sure to make her friends fell good. Example one of her friends had a family member in the hospital, so she took over a dinner for the family. That is just one of example of how she makes other feel good and a lot of times it is her laughter.

Micki also fit the bill for making other happy. All her friends get together on each of their birthdays. Now Micki doesn’t just have a birthday, she has birth month. So feel free to wish here happy birthday any time in February.

You can enjoy life, have fun, and gain in wealth all at the same time. As the old adage says’ life is short so go long.” I have no idea what this means but our boys do. Guess I should have them explain it to me again.

The value of giving and receiving

Giving is important to you and others. Let’s look at different way you can give. The first thing most of us think about giving is to give a gift. There is nothing wrong with giving gifts. However, there are other things you can give that are important, like you can give of your time. Be a volunteer. You will be helping others and along the way you are more than likely to meet some very interesting people. Who knows the folks you meet might end up being great friends and or people that can help you in business or other ways. It is not your intent when you give of you time that things like this happen, they just do. So giving is more than just a gift, it can be you.

You have given a gift and you have given of you time, so what s next. Will this it so easy to give this way and even more important it so impacting. What is kind of gift is it, it’s a prayer, a good tough about the person, or a wish for their success. Why is this so impacting? It is because we are all part of this beautiful universe. Every though radiates throughout the ends of time. So when you give a person a special gift of thought you are letting the universe know. How could you give someone a better gift? So take the time to give others the special gift of your thoughts.

Gifting is so important and we have just gone over ways to give, but we also have to know how to receive. This is because giving and receiving is as natural as water flowing down a stream.

When you receive a gift you must have to do one thing and that is say “THANK YOU”. Don’t say anything more. The person giving you the gift fully understands that you appreciate the it.
and receiving
For some enforcement on the “THANK YOU” I’ll tell you a story what many times happens. The person receiving the gift should of said thank you, but instead gives many the reason why he or she is not deserving of such a nice gift or something like that. This real takes away from the whole ideas of why the person gave the gift in the first place. It is better to just say thank you.

Making money, some things to do

To make money you have do some things that aren’t that hard, but you have to do them. One way to start to make money is to become an expert. Will how do you do that? Let’s start with finding out what the world needs. No use being an expert in something no one wants to know about.
How do you go about finding out what the world needs and wants? Look and listen it is that simple. If you can find some needs that are not being met then you have something that might be worth pursuing.

Once you find a need that needs to be filled you might be on to something. But before you charge into being an expert in the field make sure it something that you can be good at and that you like. If it doesn’t fit with what you are good at and what you like you will have to do more research?

Let’s say you have found something that fits your ability and desires, now you can start to rock and roll. But how do you become an expert? First commit yourself to at least thirty minutes a day for studying the area you want to become and expert. Before the internet and especially Google you would have a lot of trips to the library, but now you will have much more time to research and study your chosen area of expertise, because of these new tools.

After six months you will have gain more knowledge about you subject than more that 90% of the people in the world. This is a good start. So you want to make money

That’s great. Without money the world won’t go around, so let talk about how you can make money. The type of money I think you want to know how to make is not the 9 to 5 kind. I am not saying that having a job that you enjoy and give you a good living is a bad thing, but there are those that want more than just the ordinary life style.

Let’s look some ideas to raise your income. One of the new books out on how do make a good cash flow and not but a lot of time in it is “The 4- Hour workweek” by Timothy Ferriss. When I first started reading it the book I was almost turned off, but I persisted and to my delight I found some great ideas on how to make money without spending a fortune. One of Tim’s personal goals was to have lots of extra time so he could see the world and experience what the it offers.

Maybe that is not your goal but his ideas on generating cash flow are very creative and are worth your investigation. How about if you started a business that you didn’t have to spend fifteen hour a day on but rather just a few hours a month. That’s not bad. You could still work the 9to5 job and greatly increase you cash flow. This might allow you do the many things you only could dream about.

The book is worth the investment. If you only get one ideas on how to increase you income it would be well worth the less the twenty bucks you pay for the book. Just so you know I don’t receive any form of remuneration for recommending Tim’s book, but I do get great satisfaction from knowing that you might get some benefit from what you’ll learn by reading it.

I’ll have more ideas for you next time.

Gain wealth through understanding others values

We went over how understanding people’s behavior styles which can help you relate better with them. By having a good understand of others behavior styles and the ability to take that understanding and use it in a positive way, can be a big step forward in your road to success. You can identify behaviors by watching people. When we start to understand people’s values we have to do more than observe. I’ll go over that a little later.

First we will look at the six values by categories. The first is the theoretical value: A passion to discover systematize and analyze: search for knowledge. The second value is Utilitarian: A passion to gain return on investment of time, recourses and money. The third is Aesthetic: A passion to add balance and harmony in one’s life and protect our natural resources. The fourth value is Social: A passion to eliminate hate and conflict in the world and to assist others. The fifth is Individualistic: A passion to achieve position and to use the position to influence others. Lastly there is Traditional: A passion to pursue the higher meaning in life through a defined system for living. I’ll cover each of the values more at later time.

Don’t get too caught up in the definition now. The most important thing now is to remember you have to listen to identify a person’s values. It might take a little time to pick up on a person’s values but as you do it more and watch for their main interests, it will become easier to know a person’s values.

Why is it important to you to know others values? To help you keep the doors of communications open. Now you can gain their support because you’ll talking to them in a way that makes them feel comfortable. What do I mean by that? Well let’s look a person that is high in social values. If you talk about how your causes can help people and make the world a better place, you will certainly get their interest and more than likely their support.

In future discussions I’ll cover each of the six values. First we’ll look at how to identify them. Second we’ll look at how to talk with them so you’ll have a better opportunity of having them want to help you.

Gain wealth with a smile

Wealth is a lot more than money, but money doesn’t hurt, so one easy way for you to gain wealth is to smile. When I walk in the morning and I pass by other folks I smile and almost always they smile back... is that an ice breaker or what. When you smile you giving a gift from your heart and people like gifts so smile and make them feel good.

We all know a person that never, but never smiles. They might be successful at something, but they sure don’t look like their enjoying themselves. I don’t know about you, but these people that don’t smile make me feel uneasy. Not that there bad people but they don’t look happy and don’t seem to be happy. Te only way they seem to have people around them is by enticing them with something.

Isn’t it much better to have people wanting to be around you because you make them feel comfortable, will I think so and so do a lot of other people. If you think about it smiling is so easy to do. You actually use less muscles smiling than when you’re frowning.

If you want to be a success in life smile, because it will be so much easier to have people want to help you. We all know that if you have others helping and supporting you, you find that success can come much sooner than you might have planned.
Life can be so easy if we do the little things. Smiling is one of them. Yes we can complicated things and make them so difficult but when you come right down to it if we learn to do the simple things good, then the complicated thing just seem to go away.

Smile it good for you

Wealth through understanding yourself.

Over the years I have worked with many people. Here are some of the tools I used to help them better understand them self. They are a variety of assessments. These assessments are easy to administer and easy to understand.

Here is a very brief description of three of them. The first one looks at your personal behaviors of which there are four. The second looks you your values of which there are six. And the third one looks at your person skills which there are twenty three. As you can see by using these assessments you can get a very good look at yourself.

Why understanding your self is so beneficial to you, is that maybe you really don’t know as much about yourself as you think. What I have found that about a third of the people I have worked with had no ideas of them self. The others third thought they did but were way off the mark... The final group had a very good understanding of them self.

For sure the two third that did not really understand them self should know them self better so they can build on their strengths. The third that did have a good understanding of them self should get positive reinforcement from knowing their major strength and weakness.

Let assume we know have a good understanding of our self’s. Now what do we do. We use them in setting our goals. From these assessments we can see what we are good at and the areas we have strong capacities and skills. With this information at hand we can now make much better decisions on ways to achieve our goals.
If you would like to learn more about these assessments go to my Web site: http://www.happinessin8steps.com and contact me and ask for assessment information and I will E-mail it to you.

Gain wealth through using time wisely

We only have twenty four hours in a day, so wouldn’t be smart to use them wisely. So let’s look at how we can accomplish our goal of having wealth and happiness.
We should do a personal inventory on our strengths and what we really want to do. Have you taken the time to do that? If not it very important that you do, because it make the rest of the things you do have much more clarity, thus you can start advancing toward you goals at a more rapid rate. If you notice I don’t talk about getting to your goals because the journey is a never ending one... Remember it is not the final result but how you enjoy the journey, which is the most important thing.

That is why you need to know what you want out of life, because then you can make the plans to make what you like happen. You see if you don’t know what you like and want you will spend needless amount of time on things that are not going to get you what you want and that is not using your time wisely.

Once you know what you like and want to do, then you can start to organize a plan to get there. This is when you start brainstorming the things you need to do achieve whatever goals you trying to get to. Once you have the items listed, you then have to rank them by matter of importance. This is where another of using time wisely tools comes into play. Since you can’t do everything and in actuality you don’t have to, you start with the items that will have the greatest impact on you moving toward you goal. One of the tools you can use to help you decide on the things you need to do that will move you forward is the 80-20 rule. What are the top 20% of the items that will move you the fastest, than do the top 20%? You will not believe how much impact by doing this will have on your success.

There is so much more to cover and I will cover it in the following days, so listen and learn. By using these tools you can be on your way to great success and wealth.

Understand Parkinson’s Law and reach you goals

Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion. Yes that is Parkinson’s Law. We have all seen it in action. Just go down to any government building and ask for something or apply for a whatever. First you start out with the line then after sum length of time you finally get to the front of the line only to find out that the line will re opened in one hour. This is due to the lunch break; boy doesn’t that make you feel good. One hour is up and you’re finally getting to speak with someone only to find out the thing you need is no longer handled by this department. After you have wasted the afternoon you have what you need and for some reason you feel happy. I think we actually thing we beat the system.

Now I hope I did not offend anyone that works in the government because this could happen in any bureaucracy. One of the main reasons is there so much time and we feel we need to fill it.

How can this be your gain to greater performance, success and wealth? One let’s start with just spend the time you need to get something done not how much time you have. Example you can get something done in two hour, but you have all day. Don’t take all day get what you want to get done and move on to something else that will help move you ahead.

Take a little time to rank the things you need to do. Always start with number one and work down. You will find that the important things are done and you don’t have to sweat them.

Lastly when looking at your ranked list put some kind of realistic time that it will take complete the project. So if will take you three hour to get the number one item completed, you sure don’t want to spend a day or two working on it.

Do you get the picture? Don’t fill you time just because you have it available. Fill you time with things that are important to you and your success.

More results with less

Yes you can move faster to you goals by doing less. That is less of the wrong things. Vilfedo Pareto gave us the ideas on how to do this. Many of you have heard of the Pareto principle, which the 80 – 20 rule. To refresh your memory here is what Pareto found. Twenty present of the world’s population controlled eighty present of the world’s wealth. As this principle was further studied it has been found that it applies to almost anything we do. It could be 80%-20% or 90%-10%, but the net result is small amount whatever gets the biggest portion of the pie. Just think how this can help you move forward toward you goals.

One we can look at what are the twenty present of the things we do that give us eighty present of are results. It might be when you spend time with you best accounts you get more business. Or you might find that doing the things you do best give you much more results as when you work on things that you don’t best. What ever it is, do the things that give you the eighty present of your results and bet you presently spend twenty present of you time on these things.

What about eighty present of the time that give you twenty present of our results? Maybe you shouldn’t be doing them. An example, my very good friend was a very successful VP of sales. What he did was spend all his time with his top ten present of is sales staff. Yes he spent NO time with the others. What happened is that top ten present sales grow at a ten present rate and even if the other ninety present grew at a ten present rate it wouldn’t even come close to the sales growth of the top ten present. What he did with the top ten present was, he listened and then took what he heard and helped get their ideas into action.

Finally he cut the sales force in half. The uppers half was the ones he looked for the ones that could be a top ten presenter.

Maybe you should rethink where you are spending eighty present of you time and stop doing it and do more of the things that give you eighty present of you result. You might find you will even have more results than you ever had before.

It is the journey not the destination

You and I have head this many, many times. But there is so much truth in the statement. What does that have to do with understanding other and recharging you self? Let’s say a lot. It is important to enjoy the journey because that is where you are now. This is the present and as I’ve heard, the present is like a gift. So this where we live then it is important learn how to appreciate the present you and I have been given.

When we understand our self and others we greatly reduce frustration that can come with normal day living. I will have much more about understanding your self and others in later discussions. It is my hope that they will be helpful in enriching your live.

We also have discussed the need to recharge your self. We are like a machine and like all machine we need time for maintains and repair. When we take that time to relax and recharge our self we come back with renewed energy to concur that challenges in front of us. Isn’t it a great feeling when you can see the positive steps your making toward your goals? So remember to take time recharge you most valuable machine, you.

It is so important that we live in the present, because this where we are at right now. What we did is history and what we want to do is a dream, but right now is reality.
When you around someone who is always talking about the great things he or she had done, doesn’t is get a little old after hearing time after time. Or there is the person that is letting you know that in the future they are going to really make it big. Dreams are fine and help can help to motivate us to achieve our goals, but the way to our dreams is what we do today. In the words of some immortal coach ”JUST TO IT”.

Wealth through Understand Part 5 “Mistakes we make”

There are four behavior styles, dominate, influencer, steady and compliant and we have learned a little about how to recognize them. This is a good start, but only a start. One common mistake people make is the assume other interact and think the same way they do. This is not the case. So let’s look at what we should do. Why should we go through all this trouble to understand others behavior style, because it can be very important to your personal success. I’ll get more into that later.
Here are three things that can help you to have effective communications.

First learn your own behavior style. Second learn to recognize other’s behavioral style of others. And third learn to adapt to others behavior for greater communications.

How to learn you own behavior style. Take the things I told you about each style and apply them to yourself. Example, are you the take charge type or do you feel better researching for information. If you they take charge type more than likely you have a dominate style. If you like do research you probably a compliant person. Go back over the four styles and see where you fit best. Now that you have ideas of your behavior style we can move on to recognizing others.

By using the same tools you used to identify you own behavior style you use to find what style other people have. Once you have an understanding of the person’s style now you can take the information we discussed earlier on what they like and dislike, and use it to help improve communications.

With this knowledge you can adapted to their behavior style, which will greatly help you in communicating with them. Yes this takes a little up front work, but it dividends you and the other person will enjoy will way out weigh the upfront effort.
When you and others have good clear communications, both of you will find it much easier to achieve success.

Gain Wealth through Understanding Part 4 “The Compliant”

We have been covering how important it is to understand people. Behaviors styles are one way to get a good understand a perosn. We have covered the first three, The dominate, the influencer, the steady and now we will cover the compliant person.
The complaint person is one that obeys the rules. I refer to them as Mr. and Mrs. 55 MPH. When the national speed limit was 55 MPH that is what they did and not a MPH more. I won’t talk about the traffic jams they caused.

Let’s look at the compliant person. They are perfectionists, courteous, mature, accurate, conscientious and evasive. This is just the beginning. They are fact-finder, restrained, precise, diplomatic, high standards and are patient. There is a lot more but I’ll just give you two more, they are analytical and exacting.
This is for those that might remember the “Odd couple”, there was Felix Unger. Felix’s roommate Oscar drove him crazy with his disorganization. Then there is Chris Evert who when she was a tennis star she could hit within inches form the line 15 to 20 times in a game. She was a perfectionist.

The compliant person has one very strong emotion and that is fear. They don’t like being wrong, so before making a decision they will get all the facts. This can be good, but when there are time limits on when the decision has to be made they might not be ready to make a decision. Meaning they want more time. And there are times we can’t have more time, so they are not happy about giving the option.

The compliant person has a real need for procedures or better said they want it by the book. Yes they are perfectionists and are precise and attentive to details. To do this they will look for all the proof and evidence on the subject that is up for a decision.

Introverted they are and are task drivers. If you in a hurry and are shopping with them you better be prepared to slow down because they will take a long time to make decision on what they will purchase. My advice is to go to the nearest pub and let them know that is where you can be found when they finished shopping

They have a real need to have safety procedures. Being abrupt and rapid is another thing that makes them unhappy.

These things turn them on. Operating procedures in writing, no sudden changes and time to think.

This gives you some ideas on how to work with the compliant person. They too are an important part of the team, because they will find the errors in the plan before the plan is implemented. This is good.

Gain Wealth through Understanding Part 3 “The Steady”

You know that by understand people you can help further you goals. In no way am I implying that we are to manipulate people. Manipulating people in the long run ends up biting you in the backside. So in the spirit of understanding so you can help them and you be better partners at whatever endeavor you are involved with.

So now let’s look at the third behavior style which is the steady person. By the way the numbers of one or three is not a ranking system, each behavior style is as important as the other. With that out of the way we can get started.
The steady person is passive, possessive, amiable, steady, predictable and relaxed. They are also are understanding, mild, and friendly. By the way they are about 40% of the population. You definitely want them to work for you. How about this, they are systematic, serene deliberate and a good listener. Lastly they are a good team player and patient.

The steady person needs to serve, always one to help out. They are very loyal and want to stay in a relationship for a long time. Security and harmony is very important to them.
Relaxed and patient they are. It is not easy to get them upset. Not like the influencer they do not wear their emotions on their sleeve. They could be going through the hardest of emotional problems and you would never know it.
The steady person likes closure. For example if they are working on a project them want to finish it be for starting another.
If you want to turn them off rush headlong into business and you will make them unhappy. They need time to warm up. Don’t stick coldly to business and push for a quick response. If you interrupt them it another turn off, so don't do that. Listen to them carefully. Never promise something you can’t deliver. So know you know what not to do with the steady person.

Steady people don’t like change but when it has to happen they expect a logical reason for the change. Harmony is important to them both at work and home. Steady people like direction and want recognition for a job well done, when it is deserved.
Steady people are good people and we need them on the team, because they are the one that get basic things done and don’t complain about it.

When working with steady people and you do the things that I mentioned you will have a good friend and someone you can depend on

Gain Wealth through Understanding Part 2 ”the influencer”

Understanding people can help you advance your goals. So here are some more information on better understand people’s behavior styles. We talked about the dominate style. Now we will look at the second style which is the influencer.
The influencer is enthusiastic, trusting, charming, popular, gregarious, influential, confident, open minded, and persuasive. If that is not enough they are affable, convincing, inspiring, impulsive, sociable, effusive and talkative.

This behavior style is one that values trust. This can be to the point of a determent. Influencers love to interact and need to be liked. They also want to be involved in just about everything. They also wear their emotions on the sleeves, so you will know where the stand.

If you have an influencer on you team you can count on him or her to be optimistic and enthusiastic, which can help you and your team reach your goals. They are also very good at creative problem solving. They like and are good at motivating others toward goals. When things get a little tough they have a positive sense of humor that can help release tension.

When there is conflict they are good at negotiating a good resolution to the problem. Lastly they are excellent at expressing ideas and can be a great help in letting others know about what you teams is doing.

What you don’t want to do to an influencer. Don’t legislate of muffle them, don’t be curt, cold or tight-lipped, don’t drive facts, and don’t be impersonal. Don’t cut the meeting short or be too businesslike or you will turn them off. If you don’t do these things you have a much easier time getting along and working with an influencer.

Here are some things the influencer wants. An environment free from control and data, they want popularity and social recognition, just look at the plaques and trophies in their office. They want people to talk to, they are talkers you know. They also like group activity outside of work. Yes they do want monetary rewards.
This should give you a good picture of an influencer. They can be a very important part of your team. By playing to their strengths they can help you achieve your goals of wealth.

Gain Wealth through Understanding Part 1

When you really can understand people you are on your way to great wealth. You might ask why? When you go about doing the things others feel good about, they well also want to listen to what you want to say. When you don’t understand them they tend to shut the door of communication to you.

We will first look at people’s behavior style. We all have four basic behavior styles, but for now we will just look at one, the Dominate person. We’ll look at how to recognize them. Look at the things they like. Then look at the things they don’t like.

Let’s call the dominate person the “D” type. The D type is a very direct, daring and forceful person. They can be innovative and blunt. Decisive and competitive they are. Not to mention strong-willed and bold. I could go on and on about them like they are also results-oriented, domineering and aggressive to mention a few more. By this time I think you can see what who this type person is like.

The D needs to direct and wants challenges, along with a high desire to win. When they talk they are very direct.

OK we know how they act, now what turn them on. One they want to be in control, so if they work for you allow them their own destiny. They want power and authority to achieve their goals. They want to move ahead fast in an organization. They are bottom line driven. They don’t like to do the same old same old.

Now here are some of the things that turn the D off. Rambling and wasting their time. Don’t chitchat with them. Being unprepared is another turn off. This will really frost them, you making decisions for them. When they tell you something don’t take issue with them.

You now know a little bit about the D style. Why is this important? To build a good team or just have a good friend, you want to keep the doors of communications open. By following the above does and don’ts you will have the D type want to work with you rather than against you. This will only help you further your goals. What’s wrong with that?

The next time we’ll go over the influencer. Remember we need all four styles on a team, so it important to learn how to work with them, so you and the team can have the highest level of success.
