Just be happy

That might sound easy and it is. To be happy sit down or lie down and think of happy thoughts. Think of all the wonderful things you are going to do. Paint a picture that is enticing and warm. That isn’t too hard is it? I don’t think so.
You can think of places you like to go to. The beach, the mountains, a walk in the wood or any place that makes you feel good. This can make you feel happy and into ouch with yourself.

How about saying “Hello self I am happy”. I won’t say this in front of others, because they might think you are a little strange. But it is good self talk to get you in the happy spirit. You know that when you happy others want to be around you. With other people around you that are happy the happiness in side you will expand and you will feel better and better.

Better is better that worse. So keep thoughts happy thoughts rolling and be on the happy side of the street. This can help you move forward to you goal, because you won’t be all tied up inside.

Freeing yourself with happiness is something that can help you in many ways. Example you don’t have to be complaining about things you can’t do anything about any ways. Or you don’t have go over past mistakes. There are over and we should forget about them and move on.

It is not that difficult to keep you self happy, so when you get out of bed every day just be happy.

Judging isn’t good for you

It is so easy to judge people, like that person doesn’t dress right or she talks funny. We all have done it. Me I am at my worse when I am driving. My son once said to Micki, his mom and my wife, why do all the bad drivers come out when daddy is driving. What I was lacking was a load speaker on top of my care so I could inform people of their terrible driving. What do think this was doing to my mind? Your right if you said I had it all upset about something I couldn’t do anything about.

If I told you I am now perfectly clear of this, I would be not telling the truth. However, I am much better than I was. The net result is when you have your mind all cluttered up with things that you can’t influence it is wasted energy.
Solution is to be aware that you are judging and put a stop to it. When you get up in the morning tell you self I am not going to judge today. Just being conscious of the fact that judging is a waste of you time will help you from judging.
Achieving you goals, take a lot of your energy and wasting in on judging only retards you ability to get to where you want to go. So Stop judging and put you energy to better use.

Do you think great people sat around sat and said that Joe is so boring or the suit he is wearing is a bad fit. I don’t think so, why would they. They had better things to do than that. So why don’t you give it a try and just stop judging. See what happens, you might find out you start achieving your goals faster. Wouldn’t that be nice?

I have canceled the order for the speaker for the top of my car and decided to enjoy the journey. Why don’t you.

Crawl before you walk

Yesterday we were at Skip and Deb’s house for Christmas day. Ship and Deb are our son and daughter in law. What a thrill to watch their two children enjoying the bounties of Santa. Zoey who just turned three a month ago is really becoming a little lady. For some reason she asked Santa for a tool box and he gave her one. She opened the tool box and told her mom that tools are for boys. Deb told her that she asked Santa for it, but she still insisted the tools are for boys.

Enough of the tool box story and on to the real story. Zoey is a very active little girl and she wanted to do a somersault. Skip, her dad, got down on the matt and showed her. First he told her bend her knees and put her hands on the matt. That was enough to get me laughing, which is a healthy thing to do. She first fell on her side before she got the second set of instructions, which was to tuck her chin into her chest. I can’t explain what she did, but it wasn’t anything like she was told. Now I am getting real healthy doing all this laughing.

After several tries she managed to get down on her hand with her knee bend and I think she got her chin tucked somewhat close to her chest. Then with a little push from her dad she started to roll over but just about the time you would have thought she was going to make it she fell on her side. This happen many times, but this did not stop her from trying to learn how to somersault.I am sure that next time I visit with Zoey she will be able to do a somersault, because she was going to concur that challenge. And that is how life is. We have to go through the learning steps before we reach some sort of proficiency.

The important thing for all of us to remember that no matter how proficient we get at our chosen challenge there is always room be improve.

Look at this way we can all be better than we were yesterday.

To give or not to give?

That isn’t even a good question and I have always said there are no bad questions. I have to say that it is a bad question. We might all have our reason why it is a bad question and that is OK. I’ll give you my reason why it is bad.

One you can always give something from the heart, a prayer, a wish or a positive thought. Because we live in the fabulous universe we are all contacted and our thoughts radiate like the ripples that are made when a stone is thrown in a still pond. So that is one way to give.

You can write a poem or a thought about the person you want to give the gift to. Just think how much you will up lift them with your positive thoughts.
These are two wonderful ways to give someone a gift. It is also important that you will have a good feeling by giving them a gift.

The thought of the gift is many times more important than the monetary value of the gift. So this year no matter what you give those that you care for, be sure you give it to them with love.

Out of the box

You and I have heard, think out of the box. People have been doing this sense man has been around, especially the successful. If you follow the crowd, you’ll be just like the masses. If we want more out of life we need to find ideas that haven’t been used or are changed in some way thus they look new.

When you come up with new out of the box ideas many people don’t always get too excited out them. As time passes and the ideas catches on, that is the test if the ideas has merit.

There are so many people that have been very successful in life by using out of the box thinking. My grandfather and my Dad were two of those who were out the box thinker and I’ll tell you about them are a later date. For now I’ll tell you the story about Henry Ford.

Ford started and lost a couple of business around the start of the nineteen hundreds. That did not stop him. He finally found the right combination and started build the Model T. It was a home run. Like all business, that started and grew at a rapid pace there were a myriad of problems.

One major problem was car sales were very cycle, sales were slow in summers and very brisk in the winter. Ford had an idea to hire famers, which were in great supply around Detroit. They were industrious and hard working, but had to tend to their farm in the spring and summer. Ford’s ideas were to hire them in the fall and winter and to attract them he would offer them five dollars a day. Industry thought he was crazy and they were also upset because it was way over the present wages paid.
His ideas worked so now Ford could make cars in the winter when cars were being sold and not making them in the summer when they were not being sold.

Sound pretty simple and it was and that is the way of many out of the box ideas.

What is the old saying, “Keep it Simple Stupid”

Do we hear?

I have twenty five percent hearing loss, but with help of hearing aids I do just fine. Hearing is not what I am going to talk about, but rather those of us that pretend we are hearing, but are really are waiting for the other person to stop talking so we can speak. We have all heard the old saying, we were given two ears, two eyes and one mouth and we should use them in that proportion.

It is hard to hear when we are running our month all time. So here are some ideas to help all of us to make people happier and learn more. Instead of wanting to talk all the time why don’t we start listening more? A lot of good things can happen. As I said earlier you make people happy because you are paying attention to them by listening to what they are saying. People really like to be heard so give them a chance and listen to them.

You might also find out that people will want to be around you. People like other that make them feel good and by hearing what they are saying you are truly doing that.

One thing you can do is let them know you are listening to them by nodding your head and when they stop talking ask them a short question about what they were telling you. You might find out they might even want to hear what you have to say. If these things occur you are having a true conversation. Your learning something and the person you talking with is to.

By really hearing (listening) to people you will find other will want to be around you.

One way to make it

John is a person that you just have to like. When he walks in room he has a smile on his face and he almost looks like he is ready to laugh. He really is a happy guy. As he walks into a room he looks around for people he knows. When he spots them he walks over and normally starts talking with the ladies. He just lights everyone up. He always has a comment about the person he is talking with then listens to them and moves on to cheer someone else up in the room. He is so natural at what he does you never fell he is putting on any airs.

As you might think John is a very success business person even though he has been retired for many years. Yes he still works as a consultant, when he wants and I am sure that’s one of the things that keeps him in so sharp.

One of the reason I think John has been so successful is he cares about people. He does this by engaging them and then listens to them. That doesn’t seem so hard but how many people do you see do that.

John was willing to learn his business from top to bottom and when the chance came to show what he could do he took it and ran for a TD. For the non sport people that a touchdown in football and they are good if it the team you are rooting for.

Maybe you should take time to smile and talk with others and most importantly listen to them, you might learn something.

There are some things that are good about getting older.

There are some great things about getting older, you can drive a car, will that was forty years ago. You get experience in many different things in life. So if you learn from each experience you can grow as a person, and you can enjoy the wonderful things of being alive.

As we grow older something’s change. For example when you going on a long trip in your car and you stop for a break, you just don’t bound out of the car you slowly slide out and gingerly start to move. After a few moments things start to work as they should, well let’s just say you’re moving. Your hearing starts to decrease and you can’t see without the help of glasses. But for those that won’t except wearing glass or contacts have to have someone read the menu for them. I bring this up because an I had some friends who would not wear their glass and always complained the print was too small.

We have come all this way to have all this happen to us. But there is good news. When you get old enough you not only get social security but Medicare. What that’s mean you don’t have to pay any more hospital bill and if you get a supplemental program, you pay a monthly fee pulse $135 a year and that’s it. Isn’t that great. That’s what the salesman told us.

My feeling about getting older, it is like a fine wines it, gets better with age. If you take the time to stop and smell the roses, life well is a great journey.

It’s lost

The ring story goes on. David the fellow who gave me was a big man, with big hand and fingers. My hands are not big at all and that also means the fingers aren’t large either. So the ring he gave me fit very loosely on my finger. To keep the ring from falling off I had to keep my hand slightly clinched. Most of the time it was not a problem, but it did come off from time to time.

One time Micki and I were in the Florida Key in lagoon listening to a live music that was being played at the tike bar on shore. We were on small rafts hanging on to your small boat. As I switch hands to hold on to the boat my ring slipped off. The water was only six to seven feet deep and the bottom of the lagoon was all sand so it would be easy to see if I had a mask, but I didn’t. Being we were in salt water I had a real problem, it is very to see in sakt water without a mack. How was I going to find my ring?

At that moment I thought I had lost the ring forever, but along came a guy with his mask and snorkel. Mind you the only thing to see at the bottom was sand, but if you’re a tourist from somewhere they don’t have clear water, you would think this was great place to snorkel.

When this guy pocket his head out of the water, I asked him if he would look for a silver torques ring at the bottom. He was delighted to have something to do and quickly slipped under the water in pursuit of my ring. In a few moments he surfaced we my ring in his hand. He gave to me and I kept thanking him, I even offered him a reward, like a cold drink. But, he was happy enough just knowing that he help someone.

Over the first year of having the ring I lost it six times, but in every case, for some reason, it found its way back to me. Is there something magical about the ring I don’t know? But you can be sure the only time it comes off me is at night when I go to bed. There is a reason it doesn’t fall off anymore and I tell you that story some other time.

The Ring

Everyone has a story that they remember and think it is special. Here is my story. I was leaving Chicago Airport going back to Ft. Lauderdale after a long few days working a trade show. I had a drink in the Crown Room and then one on the plane. I was bushed and ready to relax. My seat was my normal place, on the aisle. Just before take off a very large man asked to get in his seat by the window, I moved out and he moved in to his seat.

He went right to work and I laid my head back to catch some ZZ’s. The Stewart came by and asked if we needed something and my new friend to be said yes and by the way bring me two thank you. That’s how it started. I found out he was half Indian and worked for Eskimo tribe that had several businesses with sales over three hundred and fifty million dollars. He lived in New Mexico, but travels the world. Now about why he was so large. He played football at University of Illinois with Dick Butkus and had played some pro ball, but said he was to small. You couldn’t till it by what I saw.

Somehow we started talking about meditation. He was really into it. Yes I meditate but not like David, that was his name. After hearing about him he wanted to hear what I did, so I told him. At that time our business was going through some very difficult times. He listen and then he took off his ring and handed to me. He said you need it more than I do.

The ring was silver with two torques stones that were raped with two silver snakes protecting the stones. He told me the ring would protect me, because people are afraid of snakes. Whether that is true or not I don’t care, but just in case I have wore the ring ever since David gave it to me.
There is another whole story about the ring but I’ll tell you that later.

Does Time really fly?

According to my grandma Cherry, who lived to be ninety seven, the older you get the fast time goes by. When I would visit with her she would tell me some wonderful stories of her youth and childhood. That will be in another story. At that time she was in her nineties. She had nothing to do, but watch and listen to sporting events. You might seem this strange, but sports where her life. She would watch golf, though she could hardly see. I am not sure she understood golf, but it was a sport and that was good enough for her. Her favorite sport was hockey, especially the Detroit Red Wings. Maybe you have something to look forward to when you get old.

Back to does time really fly and why would that be. I have some ideas about why time goes by faster as we get older and I will share them with you. After you have read the ideas please leave me you comments. This will help all of us to understand what happens with time as we grow older.

Let’s start with when we were young. You went with you parents to you grandparents. The first trip seemed to take forever but as you went back time after time. The trip didn’t seem as long. One of the reasons is on the first trip everything you saw driving there was new to you. Your mind had to digest all the visual scenery. On the following trips your mind didn’t have to absorb so much, so the time seemed to go by faster.

You might ay familiarity of your surrounding takes less energy of your mind so you mind can relax. This could be one reason for time going by faster when we get older, but I am sure there are more. Let me know what you think.

When you care good things can happen

Many years ago our youngest son Todd and myself where given the job by Micki, Todd’s Mom and my wife, to go out and find a Christmas tree. We had an idea where to go because one of Skips, our oldest son, buddies was working at the Police Athletic Leagues Christmas tree lot. So we went off to find Bobby, he is Skips friend that was working at the Christmas tree lot.

Todd and I arrived at the tree lot and started looking around. As always I was in a hurry, so I would take almost any tree that was tall enough. Now Todd now an engineer was much fussier than me. On my insistence I had Bobby put the tree I selected in the trunk of our car? This car in today’s standards look like a small motor home, so there was almost enough room for the treeing the trunk. Just the top pocked out. Bobby got something to tie the trunk lid down and we were off.

Todd did not talk on the way home, which is very unusual because he was a great talker in the car. We arrived home and I went in the house to get something to cut the line holding the trunk lid down. Micki came out with me for the viewing of the tree, but I couldn’t open the trunk because was Todd was setting on the trunk lid with his arms folded and said this is tree is terrible looking and he didn’t want it.
What I am I to say. I said what any red blooded American man would say I’ll go and get another tree. That was not enough for Todd. We had to take the present tree back, to make him happy. Then Todd had an idea. He would call Bobby. Todd after calling Bobby told us that Bobby would pick up the tree and give us our money back. All of this happened, but guess who didn’t go to get the new tree, me.

One of our best friends happened to stop by and Micki told him the tree story and asked him if he would take Todd and find us a tree worthy of Todd’s approval. Of course he said yes and Todd and Bob were off to find a suitable tree. On their return Todd was happy with the tree and so was I.

What has happened in our household is me; David and Dad, can no longer go out to get a tree without Micki. This rule has made everyone happy in our family.

Does being organized help?

You tell me. I know from personal experience when I get organized it saves me time. I don’t have to go looking for things, because they are where they are supposed to be. That being said am I as organized as I should be, not a chance.
I have my moments when I take the time to put things where I can find them, then there other times I don’t take the time and my office looks more like a paper staking factory. Do you think I really save time by not putting things back where they should be. In the long run NO. So why do I make these messes? I my case my minds is going so fast from one thing to another, I don’t take the time to put things back where they should be. I just can’t wait to move on. Thus I don’t put things back.

January 1, 2009 I swear on a stack of bibles I will get and stay organized.

There is wonderful book “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch, read it you’ll like it. In the book he told his wife when they were first married that they would have one filing system and it would be alphabetic. When reading about his filing system I thought I should give it a try and guess what it is working. That is when I put things back where they should be.

In the future I know I will get better.

Do you want to lose weight?

First go to your medical professional, in my case that is my doctor, and make sure you medically can change your life style.

Every week Micki, my wife, gest a Women’s magazine and on the clove they have some wonderful looking women who has the best diet in the world. You can lose ten pounds in a week and or hundred pounds in six months. Every one is the absolute best. Now mind you in fifty two weeks there is a new and greatest diet every week. That is really something.

I have done some non-scientific research on these diets and found out that they all tend to be very low in calories. The pictures of the food looks very inviting, but there really isn’t much to eat. Example, eat a large three once piece of lean meat or a three ounces of some wood grilled chicken, all of this with fresh fruit and vegetables. OK enough about these diets.

Here is mine. First if you eat what I suggest you will greatly reduce your chances of having a heart problem like I had, now for what you should eat. This is not a diet but a way of eating that is healthy for you.

Let’s start with what not to eat. One, no bad fats, we don’t have time to go over bad fats, but if you and Google and look for bad fats I am sure you can get the answer. Two, don’t eat refined floor. No white bread or pasta. Three no sugar sweeten sodas. Four greatly reduce your alcohol consumption. If you have to have a drink, drink red wine and only two glasses for men and one for the gals per day not setting.. Don’t do what I did and get twelve once wine glasses.

If you change your eating habits to this way of eating you well lose weight and ever more important you well be healthier.

Every day is a day to say thank

Every day is a day to say thank

Don’t you feel extra special when people you don’t even know say thank you when you helped them in some way. Here we have two words that can do so much. Thank you makes us feel good. There is nothing wrong about feeling good and have that happy felling inside us.

A thank you can we very quick, like when you hold a door when someone is going to go through it. Or it can be big thank you. Like when someone does something very special for you. For example let’s say you really needed a new computer, but did not have funds to buy one. Then out of the blue your best friend said he just got the latest computer and his old one is just six months old but he won’t need it anymore and asked if you would you like it. Boy would I like, Yes Yes. Then it comes the super special THANK YOU.

Have you given someone special to you a thank you today? Why don’t you just try it. You will make them feel good and you too.

Thank you is a very nice way to help people be happy. Do it, people will like it.

Where is my bike

We have all had a bike. There was an age that it is your only form of transportation, except for walking. When you would drive by a school there would by roll and rolls of bikes parked in the bike racks. You could see almost any type of bike. Like a grills bike that would be pink or a Schwin with chrome finders and mud flaps and there would be everything in between as far as style...

Today you see many adults riding their bikes for exercise. For some reason bike riding is not my favored form of exercise. I am not saying it is not good, so if it something you like to do go for it.

If you want to see bike riders go to Asia and India. When I was in India bikes where the main form of transportation. To show how important bikes where I India our supplies that manufactured chucks for us had a bicycle fund for new employees to purchase a bike. I won’t go in to details, but the bikes helped their staff get to work.

Now where is my bike? Well it is not my bike I am talking about but a friend. Like all of us he used his bike until he tells he got a car, and then bike just took up room in his dad’s garage. My friend went off to college and long forgot about his bike. Then one day when he was home on a college break he decided to ride his bike to the beach which was about a half a mile from his house. After searching the garage and not finding his bike. He asked his Dad where my bike is. Oh his Dad said I sold it and sent you a check for what was paid for your bike. “You Got the check” his dad said” Oh I think so”. After thinking a while my friend said to his Dad “I think I drank my bike”.

The moral is always read the fine print when receiving gifts.

Old friends

Last night Micki and I went to a Christmas party of past members her fund raising group...These gals when they were active had more fun and did a lot of good for the community. If the girls were working on and event many of their spouses where also involved. One event was like a county fair and it brought in tens of thousands of people in a two and half day to the event. I was one of the lucky ones because Micki went through the leadership ranks of the group and that meant I was like her special assessment, which gave me the opportunity to have the fun of being involved with some really neat people.

Last night over ninety of the group met at a Christmas party Bill and Eileen’s house. What a wonderful house for such a party. The weather was just prefect. Well all I can say about the food it was super, you would have been hard pressed to find a restaurant to match the quality of the food.

Back to old friends. I got to talk to people I haven’t seen in years. Go over our past stories was fun. Then catching up with where they are at now, but what was really great was listening to the dreams for tomorrow.

Most of them had pretty lofty dreams. How about traveling to the jungles of South America, climbing the world’s highest mountain, or getting down to my level spending more time with their grand kid. Whatever their dreams were, they had a passion for them and I just loved to listen to their dreams. I was sure that most of them would be doing their dreams in the future.

It truly is nice to get around old friends. We don’t have time to see most them on any regular bases, so these kinds of events give me and you a chance to reacquaints are selves with some wonderful people.

When you have the opportunity go to events like theses, they can really recharge the old batteries.

T’s the season

T’s the season
It is that time of the year to go out and get the Christmas tree, for those of us the still get real dead trees. A Christmas story won’t be complete unless I told about Micki’s and my first Christmas tree buying experience.

We lived in Michigan and in December it would be dark by 4:30 PM, so when I got home about 5:30 PM it was dark. That did not stop us from going out and getting a tree. Micki told me there was a place to get Christmas trees up Monroe Blvd. just past Outer drive. I know this means nothing to you but it bring back good memory for me. Back to the tree lot, Micki went in and turned left because that is where the Scotts pine trees where, I turn left because that is where the short needles tress where. So those of you that might not know Scott Pines at long needles.

On with the story. Micki waved me to come over to her. I did and asked why. She said she found our tree and I said that can’t be our tree because we, meaning my mother and dad, only have short needle trees. She countered with well we only have Scott Pines, the long needle tree.

When we got home and I on loaded the Scott Pine, I wasn’t the happiest but anything for Micki.

We put up the tree as soon as we go home. Aunt Florence gave us her old tree ornaments and lights. She redid her tree with all new ornaments and light, this was good for us.

Soon the tree was all decorated and we said down and were looking at the tree when we saw two eyes near the top of the tree and the eyes started to get bigger and bigger. Then the tree started to fall. Lucky Chatty our cat got out just fine and we were able to put the tree back up without it showing much damage. As we sat back down we both agree this was not a good looking tree.

Yesterday we bought a Christmas tree in just five minutes. Then we went and got all new light for the tree plus light for outside. Had lunch with Boo, our favorite bartender server. She makes anybody and everybody feel good. I gave a copy of my book to her and she almost did a flip. Then she ran over to her boss and showed him the book. He then said I want two, of which I just happened in the car.

The moral of the story is happiness comes in many forms but whatever the form is enjoy it

Try to listen

You and I have a friend or two that must have one ear and two months. All as they do is interrupt. I don’t know what you do but after awhile I turn them off. They have no desire to listen to anything that is said. All they want to do is tell you about anything, and mean anything whether they know anything about the topic or not. You think these people were Google, but in most cases they don’t even give you enough time to ask a question. Sorry about that, but I had to get that off my chest.

My question to anyone do we learn from talking of listening? It is my believe that listening and reading is how we gain knowledge. So what if you talk all the time and don’t listen? You miss great opportunities to gain knowledge and learn.
Learning and knowledge does not stop when we are over eighteen, it is a lifelong process. More and more research has shown that our mines are still able to learn tell we leave this world. The beauty of this is we always have the ability take what we are learning and apply it.

Einstein was a great thinker tells the very end of his life. We all should keep growing in knowledge. And then apply what we learn.

Reading and listening are they background of gaining knowledge. My challenge to everyone is never stop learning.

Read and try to listen, you might like it.

The story starts with Micki and her good friend Cindy. They were co-chairing the Winterfest Ball. It is in early December every year and is part or the world famous Winterfest Boat Parade. The ball has over seven hundred people in attendance. It is black tie with all the music and entertainment you would ever need. Let’s say it is a huge event
.
Micki told me before the ball to do my best to stay out of her way; because she would have to make sure what was planned was right and like always deals with the unplanned events. She told me to stay with Ray, Cindy’s husband and that’s what I did.

Ray and I spend the evening drifting around. We met up with a lot of old friend and that gave us a chance to catch up on old times. The evening went by fast and I did not bother Micki. The most I would do is give her a wave from a distance.
Somewhere around Mid-night Ray said he was going home and being we lived on the same street he said I could ride home with him. After thinking it over two things went through my mind. One Micki told me to stay with Ray. And second she had her car at the event of course I went home with Ray.

About 2:00 A.M. the phone range and as I rolled out of bed I noticed Micki wasn’t there. When I picked up the phone I heard “where are you” and I said where did you call. That where I am at. Then I heard “Why did you go home” and I said ‘you told me to say with Ray, Ray said lets go home and I did. I did what you told me stay with Ray.”

There story gets real complicated after I went to pick up Micki and Cindy and I’ll leave that part of the story for another time.

So times you shouldn’t to what you’re told. What do you think?

People are amazing Part 2

Now for rest of the story. As we left the story John had been told by his computer guru that he could solve Johns problem, which was evaluating over two hundred gas stations in Southeast Florida in the time required. So what was his plan?

First the guru needed that location of all the gas stations. Two a list of what information John needed. The information needed was five questions that could all be answered by viewing the station form outside and a couple of photos of the station.

That was the easy part. Now the guru had to lay out the techie part of solving the problem. He hired two people to visit each of the gas stations and fill out he form’s, but not on paper but on a wireless lap top computer that could send information anywhere there was cell phone service, which is everywhere in South Florida. The two information gathers also had digital cameras to take the picture of the gas stations.

Now the guru sent the two out with a computer map of each location and how to get there. Then they started gathering the information on the gas stations. As they put the information and photos in their computers they would E-mail the information to John and he would organize it on a spread sheet. Because of John’s vast knowledge of the gas station distribution he had long ago developed a formula on how the evaluate them.

John was able to keep up with the information flowing in to him and at the end of the forth day he had it all in his system. When I said John put the information in the computer that really wasn’t the case, his wife did all the real work? John always said he wasn’t paid for work but for his knowledge and I guess he is right.
With some organizing of the data John was able to present to his client a document with the value of each station and a grand total of the proposed purchase, photos and all, on time.

I never heard if the stations where purchased by his client, but I do know that he and his guru and the guru’s helpers where paid in full.

So what’s the point? John has a great breath of knowledge, but in no way was he a technology guru, but he knew of one which made it possible to take his knowledge and get it to his client in the time required. We don’t have to know everything, but we do have known where to find the knowledge we do not possess.

The question is how old is John. Go to my web site: http://happpinesin8steps.com and click on contact and send me your answer. The winner will receive and copy of my new book. Happiness in Eight Steps. For all those that guess I’ll send you a three months FREE subscription to my monthly news letter.

People are amazing

We all have some friends that are amazing. John is one of my friends that fit the amazing part. John has the most wonderful wife. She is his wife, best friend and business partner. The amazing part is they are in love more today as when they got married over twenty years ago. Now about John he is the most gracious person you will ever meet. He remembers things about people, like when he would ask me about how my dad was doing. He called my dad a you old man, but it was in a very caring way. John likes the ladies. He is always flattering them and kidding them about their “old man”. They ladies love it.

John is a very good golfer. He can play with anyone. If you ever get a chance to play with golf with John you would be in for a great experience.

John has years of experience in the petroleum distribution business, so after he left a major oil company, he start a consulting business for distributers of petroleum or as we laymen would say gas stations. This consulting keeps him as busy as he wants to be.

Here is an interesting project he took on. A major oil company wanted to sell over two hundred gas stations in South Florida. A South American major player in petroleum was interested in buying them, but didn’t know what price to put on them, so he contacted John. Yes John good do it, but there was a problem the bid had to be in by end of the month which was only seven days away. For some reason John said he could do it but at the time had no idea how he was going to get the job done on time.

First ideas he contacted a friend that is a computer guru, who was always telling him let me know if you need any help. So he called him and told him his problem. Bingo the guru had a solution.
I’ll give you the solution in my next blog and a question for you.
