Crawl before you walk
Yesterday we were at Skip and Deb’s house for Christmas day. Ship and Deb are our son and daughter in law. What a thrill to watch their two children enjoying the bounties of Santa. Zoey who just turned three a month ago is really becoming a little lady. For some reason she asked Santa for a tool box and he gave her one. She opened the tool box and told her mom that tools are for boys. Deb told her that she asked Santa for it, but she still insisted the tools are for boys.
Enough of the tool box story and on to the real story. Zoey is a very active little girl and she wanted to do a somersault. Skip, her dad, got down on the matt and showed her. First he told her bend her knees and put her hands on the matt. That was enough to get me laughing, which is a healthy thing to do. She first fell on her side before she got the second set of instructions, which was to tuck her chin into her chest. I can’t explain what she did, but it wasn’t anything like she was told. Now I am getting real healthy doing all this laughing.
After several tries she managed to get down on her hand with her knee bend and I think she got her chin tucked somewhat close to her chest. Then with a little push from her dad she started to roll over but just about the time you would have thought she was going to make it she fell on her side. This happen many times, but this did not stop her from trying to learn how to somersault.I am sure that next time I visit with Zoey she will be able to do a somersault, because she was going to concur that challenge. And that is how life is. We have to go through the learning steps before we reach some sort of proficiency.
The important thing for all of us to remember that no matter how proficient we get at our chosen challenge there is always room be improve.
Look at this way we can all be better than we were yesterday.
